Homo"sexuality", more like Buggery.

Tini
So we came out of Colour Conference #ColourCon where we learned about the love of God and his grace and redemption and came across this preacher in Seven Sisters standing there with a microphone saying things like "thou shalt not lie with a man like with a woman..." and as much as I would love to pretend those guys don't exist it made me wonder who this guy (and others like him) is preaching to. There are only 2 options. Either he is preaching to non-Christians or he is preaching to Christians, but neither one makes sense to me. (Disclaimer: I recently learned that I only use 10% of my brain so my opinion might not consider 100% of the whole situation.)
Let's say he was speaking to non-Christians. They are lost and going to hell anyway. Not lying with a man like with a woman will not get them saved and lying with a man like with a woman is also not going to make the situation worse for them. So trying to give them rules like this doesn't make sense to me.
Let's say he was speaking to Christians. The first question is obviously why is he doing it on the street on a Friday night and not in a church where they usually go and are willing to listen?
And the second question is, why is he preaching this to them at all? If they are Christians, they have accepted that Jesus has died for their wrongdoings, there is grace and forgiveness for their issues and even though that doesn't mean that they can do what they want and not care about the guidelines that God has given us for our lives, what usually gets people to change is the Holy Spirit convicting them in love, not with condemnation.
So please, when we see people like that preaching on the street with a condemning mindset (although obviously concerned enough about the lost to embarrass himself) can we pray that God touches him with his love so that he can continue preaching the love that Jesus preached about, because I don't remember Jesus ever standing in the street shouting out scriptures from Leviticus at people. He went to the people and loved them in their circumstances and I believe that that's what we're called to do as well. (Sorry, this was a bit long, but I had to get it out.)

Ay: I think Churches avoid informing their congregations, from the pulpit, on topics related to sexual ungodliness.

I suspect the "benefits" of not paying tax and claiming gift aid by becoming a "registered charity" (and therefore) a public service organ
isation means that Churches serve the general public primarily instead of - God.

Inasmuch any message that rivals public policy cannot be preached in a place funded by the TAX payer.

So I understand why some people choose to take the Bible to the streets as Churches maybe (quietly) "prohibited" from preaching specific sections of the Bible in exchange for their Charity status and Gift Aid.

I reckon it's possible for Churches to just pay TAX on collections, i.e., give Cesar what is Caesars and then preach the unedited Word of God.

Consider the last time you heard pastor quote from 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 think really hard.

Tini: Actually, the topic is being discussed in my church in London and even more so in Germany. The point is that if you take this scripture on its own none of us will make it into heaven which is why you have to see it in the context of the whole Bible. If you're saying that gay people (or drunkards) can't get into heaven you're saying that Jesus' sacrifice wasn't big enough to cover them and that's just not the God that I read about in Ephesians 3. My God who can do immeasurably more than we could ever ask for or imagine.

I have also learned about John 8, 7 in my church and John 3, 17. Jesus is the answer to our problems and if he loved and didn't judge people, then my job is to love and not judge people. Also I don't think that my vicar would ever let anyone in government tell him what to say, and neither would Gary, so that Gift Aid thing is not the reason why people don't talk about homosexuality in church. The reason is that most of them haven't made up their mind about the topic and even the church has had councils over councils and has not found a common ground on the topic.

I believe God loves gay people with all his heart and is very sad to see how a lot of Christians treat them. Jesus is the answer to everything and when gay people find Jesus, the Holy Spirit can guide them in how to live their life, just like he guides the rest of us. And like someone put it very nicely once, it can't be that big of an issue for God, otherwise he probably would have put it into the 10 commandments.

Ay: Remember Jesus turned water into wine meanwhile the Bible says "drunkards (etc) will not enter the kingdom" 1 Corinthians 6:9-11

I'm glad to hear that you believe God loves those who practice homosexuality because the Bible says God loved the world (J
ohn3:16), so that includes those who practice homosexuality along with the people that mistreat such practitioners.

First of all homosexuality is a practice, not an identity. Merely having a preference for a particular activity doesn't render you into a new type of specie or being. Continuing from 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, nobody claims their identity is a reflection of the other activities listed, i.e., wrongdoers, idolaters, or adulterers, prostitutes, thieves, or a greedy-persons, or drunkards, abusers, or cheats. These things are all things that are practiced, including homo "sex".

Strictly speaking homo-"sexuality" is a misnomer. It's not actually sex. It's masturbation (with an assistant) because the function of 'sex' is to preserve your specie by reproducing through and ONLY through the act of sex. There is no other natural method to reproduce. This is alternatively known as copulation, an activity that absolutely & consistently requires both the male and female of any specie to achieve reproduction. Copulation is where we get the word couple from. The function of the couple is to reproduce the specie: that's what couples do.

Most species don't masturbate which is why "homosexuality" is a term reserved only for the human relationship-anomaly that cannot ever hope achieve offspring even if all parties involved are super-healthy and super-virile.

Like i said, its a practical activity that results in physical and emotional gratification, like running a marathon. Lots of endorphins get released, so the practice is kind of exciting and addictive.

SECONDLY, even though God loves the world (john3:16) which includes people who mistreat practitioners of "homosexuality", it's not advisable to mistreat people who practice homosexuality because Jesus said Love your neighbour (Mark12:31) and (just in case) he said love your enemy (Matthew 5:44). Therefore those who mistreat: practitioners of homosexuality or; those who mistreat practitioners of homosexuality, are all disobeying Jesus.

The fact is Paul wrote in his letter to the Corinthians that practitioners of homosexuality, along with drunkards, idolaters, cheaters, abusers (including abusers of homo"sexuals"), thieves will not enter the Kingdom of God.

Now it's up to you whether or not you believe the explicit content in that verse. But just remember... Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"

The serpant said to Eve "Did God REALLY say... blah blah blah" Eve made the mistake of re-imagining the Word of God to suit her desire to eat fruit.

TODAY the "serpent" is asking the same question to you and the Church: "Did God really say, those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God?"

I leave it to you to answer. God bless you.
